Following his split with Nike, Tiger Woods unveils his new Sunday Red apparel

Sunday red, paired with Tiger Woods, is more than simply a shirt. It is a trademark.

With the announcement on Monday night of an expanded agreement with TaylorMade Golf to develop a lifestyle brand dubbed Sun Day Red, Woods is ringing in the new year with a new appearance.

<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-401432″ src=”” alt=” following his split with nike tiger woods unveils his new sunday red apparel tiger” width=”1005″ height=”670″ title=”Following his split with Nike, Tiger Woods unveils his new Sunday Red apparel 6″ srcset=” 510w,×100.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1005px) 100vw, 1005px” />

The 27-year partnership between Woods and Nike, which began when Woods became pro in August 1996 with his “Hello, World” campaign, ended, bringing about the shift.

In 2016, Nike ceased to operate its golf club and ball equipment business. In the past, Woods held contracts with Bridgestone for golf balls and TaylorMade for clubs. He is now fully committed to TaylorMade’s clothing and shoe business.

According to the firm, the design of “Sun Day Red” has a tiger spanning three phrases, symbolizing his fifteen major victories.

Woods said, “I have a lifetime of experience modifying my clothing and footwear to help me play better based on how it was constructed. I have learned so much over the years.” “Over the years, there have been things I’ve done that no one has ever heard about. I’m prepared to reveal those secrets to the public.

Since his Thai mother, Kultida, taught him red was his power color, Woods has worn some shade of red on Sundays throughout his career.

Between the Masters and the PGA Championship on May 1, TaylorMade Golf intends to offer its first men’s gear collection online in the US and Canada. It plans to ultimately include footwear, women’s, and children’s collections in addition to growing into important markets.

Being a stand-alone brand, Sun Day Red will have its own designers, employees, and headquarters. Leaders in fashion and culture have joined Woods and TaylorMade to oversee the brand. Brad Blankinship, the president of Sun Day Red, was formerly in charge of companies including Quiksilver and RVCA.

Three days before to Woods’ 2024 debut in the Genesis Invitational at Riviera, a PGA Tour main event that he is hosting, the news was made.

At the conclusion of last year, Woods and Nike dissolved their 27-year partnership. The last time he wore the swoosh on his jersey was at the PNC Championship, when he played alongside his son Charlie, who was dressed by a different clothing brand.

All indications suggested a larger agreement with TaylorMade, which submitted four “Sunday Red” or “SDR” trademark applications to the USPTO.

Recently, Woods has been hinting at the news on social media. A week ago on Monday, he shared a close-up of his face along with the caption, “The vision remains the same.” He uploaded a darkened photo of himself on Friday with the caption, “A new day rises,” on a red shirt.

Reaching the last round is crucial to his storied red jersey on Sunday, but his prospects of doing it are now more slim than ever due to his many ailments.

Last year, Woods played in all four rounds at Riviera. In the 2023 Masters, he made the cut, but he withdrew before completing the rain-shortened third round on Sunday morning. After the Masters, he underwent surgery to fuse his ankle, and he didn’t play again until December, when he faced a 20-man field in the Bahamas for his Hero World Challenge.

The Genesis Invitational is a marquee tournament with a $20 million prize, with $4 million going to the victor. The Genesis Invitational, being a player-hosted event, will include a 36-hole cut to the top 50 players and ties, as well as any player within 10 strokes of the lead.

In the Bahamas the previous year, Woods was full of optimism, aiming to play once a month throughout the major league season. The new season at Riviera begins.
