Cricket: Arjun Azad, the captain of Chandigarh, gets a century against Maharashtra

<p>Day 2 of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at the Sector 16 cricket ground saw Chandigarh take a slim 42-run lead over Maharashtra thanks to a masterful 178 from captain Arjun Azad.</p>

<p>The hosts scored 330 runs in response to the visitors’ 280 runs. Despite losing the first three wickets at 77 (Harnoor Singh, 22; Nehal Pajni, 13; Rajangad Bawa, 3), Chandigarh recovered admirably thanks to a superb helping hand from Prashant Ahlawat. Together, they put up a 51-run partnership before Ahlawat (25) left.</p>
<p>Akshit Rana (40) provided Azad with solid assistance as they put up a 115-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Then the wickets fell quickly in the Chandigarh innings. The team total read 274, with Nishunk Birla (1), Chirag Dhindsa (8), and Neel (1) returning. After that, Harshit scored 29, and along with Azad, they amassed 50 runs for the ninth wicket. The last wicket to fall was Azad’s.</p>
<p>For the bowling side, AR Nishad returned with five wickets, Vicky Ostwal took one, and SA Veer grabbed three. When the stumps were drawn, Maharashtra was eight wickets up with no loss.</p>
